Perhaps some of the earliest songs I heard were sung by The Seekers. Many of the songs, sung in Judith Durham’s
very distinctive voice, I heard played by my uncles and aunts and on the radio. And my Mum constantly sang their songs to me – so that’s how I learnt many of the lyrics and these were among the first songs I sang.
‘A World of Our Own’ was one their hits – and was released in 1965 – the year I was born!
As much as we’d like to close the door and let the world fade away, we have to let it in, in order to experience, learn, grow and mature….not always pleasant, but that’s how life goes….don’t you think?
May you be inspired – everyday!
Close the doors, light the lights.
We’re stayin’ home tonight,
far away from the bustle and the bright city lights.
Let them all fade away.
Just leave us alone.
And we’ll live in a world of our own.
We’ll build a world of our own
that no one else can share.
All our sorrows we’ll leave far behind us there.
And I know you will find
there’ll be peace of mind
when we live in a world of our own.
Oh my love, oh my love,
I cried for you so much.
Lonely nights without sleeping while I longed for your touch.
Now your lips can erase
the heartache I’ve known.
Come with me to a world of our own.
We’ll build a world of our own
that no one else can share.
All our sorrows we’ll leave far behind us there.
And I know you will find
there’ll be peace of mind
when we live in a world of our own.
(musical interlude)
We’ll build a world of our own
that no one else can share.
All our sorrows we’ll leave far behind us there.
And I know you will find
there’ll be peace of mind
when we live in a world of our own.
And I know you will find
there’ll be peace of mind
when we live in a world of our own!
How wonderful that your mother use to sing to you. My mother did to. She loved Doris Day! I appreciate your positive attitude of gratitude. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
