I’ve decided to change this series a bit and share only five quotations for each month, every third month. So today, I’m sharing words that inspired me in May June and July 2023.

Words That Inspired Me In May, June and July 2023
1. Whatever may be the tensions and the stresses of a particular day, there is always lurking close at hand the trailing beauty of forgotten joy or unremembered peace. – Howard Thurman

4. Enchantment…has nothing to do with fantasy, or escapism, or magical thinking: it is founded on a vivid sense of belongingness to a rich and many-layered world; a profound and whole-hearted participation in the adventure of life. – Sharon Blackie
5. I write because writing is something that I have to do. And it doesn’t matter whether people like it or not. I would suggest that’s true for most creative people. Van Gogh never made a penny in his entire lifetime. He painted because it was his soul, his excitement. It was what aligned him with his Source of being. An artist or a creative person of any kind goes about their work because it’s their path, it’s what excites them, it’s what aligns their soul with who they truly are, who they showed up to be. – Wayne Dyer

6. Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world. – Miyamoto Musashi
7. We can relax and float in the direction that the water flows, or we can swim hard against it. If we go with the river, the energy of a thousand mountain streams will be with us. -Elizabeth Lesser
8. One of the things that draws art closer to faith is the fact that both tend to be troubling. Neither art nor faith can leave things simply as they are: they change, transform, move and convert them. – Pope Francis
9. Sufficiency isn’t an amount at all. It is an experience, a context we generate, a declaration, a knowing that there is enough, that we are enough. – Lynne Twist
10. No matter where life takes you, the place that you stand at any moment is holy ground. Love hard, and love wide and love long and you will find the goodness in it. – Susan Vreeland

11. At every moment, we always have a choice, even if it feels as if we don’t. Sometimes that choice may simply be to think a more positive thought. – Tina Turner
12.Beloved community is formed not by the eradication of difference but by its affirmation, by each of us claiming the identities and cultural legacies that shape who we are and how we live in the world. – bell hooks
13. When we are willing to be intimate with what actually is here now, to look directly at all of our experience, we might recognize that this is our life, however different from our thoughts and ideas about it. – Roshi Pat Enkyo O’Hara
14. That moment of inward breath, that pause and awareness of “how beautiful this is” is a prayer of appreciation, a moment of gratitude in which I behold beauty and am one with it. – Jean Shinoda Bolen
15.How do we see the world as sacred again? By radical noticing. Looking for awe in all of life. – Lucy Jones

The bell hooks’ quote stands out to me because I finally read one of her books this summer. Lots of wonderful wisdom here in all the quotes in such a small amount of words. They pack a punch!
