Words have power. We all know that. We’ve experienced this as readers, as listeners, when the words of someone else – written, spoken or sung – have either lifted us up or broken us. As writers and bloggers, and in our relationships, we too have used words to build or break others.
As this year comes to a close and another starts, I begin to reflect on words. More specifically, I start to think about my word of the year.

In the past I’ve chosen a word or a phrase for the year and seen how this affects both my choices and behaviour that year. I’ve experienced the power of my word/phrase of the year to help prioritize certain activities, let go of toxic relationships and make some difficult choices.
Words have power. But the only power they have is the power you decide to give them – Eleanor Brown
2015 – The year of daring greatly.
2016 – A year to simplify.
2017 – A year to be happy.
2018 – A year to create peacefully.
I’ve already chosen my word of the year for 2019. I will be sharing it in a post tomorrow. There will be a linky on that post to encourage you to write a post and share your word of the year too.Remember, your word of the year has the power to make 2019 a wonderful year of learning and growth for you. You can grab Modern Gypsy’s ‘Visioning‘ workbook to assist you in this process.

I haven’t done a word of the year in awhile, but you are right. Words can transform your life. Just the process of choosing a word of the year helps you to focus on what is important.
I will have to give it some thought and choose one soon.
