“What’s your favorite quality about yourself?” I remember reading this question recently and wondering how I would answer it. So I decided to do just that, especially with a birthday just past!
Once you figure out who you are and what you love about yourself, I think it all kind of falls into place.

The Favourite Quality About Myself
Digging deep, I think what it is that I really love about myself. While I like my warm personality, my (sometimes sarcastic) humour and my memory, there’s one quality that stands out for me. I’m caring. Yes, despite my tough(ish) exterior, I’m a softie.
Just this morning, I asked José to name the quality that he thought best described me and he came up with with the same thing. He went on to list the small ways I reach out and care for others, especially the poor. (I wasn’t surprised that he and I agreed on this, because he really gets who I am!)
Empathy is a quality that comes naturally to me and that’s something a lot of people have appreciated over the years. José is always a little amused by this, because I can ask the most seemingly inane question to an autorickshaw driver and have him tell me his life story!
This quality has got me into trouble at times – giving and giving until people took advantage or took me for granted. There was a brief time that I was tempted to close up and not be concerned about anyone else. It went against the grain. Now, I’ve worked on setting boundaries and have learned to say ‘no’.
I remember writing my own obituary several years back as part of an exercise suggested by Stephen Covey. In it, I wrote, ‘she was kind, caring and generous’….. I guess this is how I want to be remembered as when I die.
What’s Your Favorite Quality About Yourself?
What do you really love about yourself? Are you brave, intelligent, outgoing? Do you pride yourself on being cool in a crisis? Are you great at making new friends?
How does that quality make you who you are? Do share.

I think being empathetic is a wonderful part of me. I am blessed with the people around me, my husband, friends and family. When people are sad and angry, it’s hard to reach out and understand others. And thanks for posting my book reviews!!
Without meeting you, I would definitely say that you are empathetic, Beth. It comes across strongly in your writing and online interactions.

And you’re very welcome!

I love this. I think my favorite quality is that i am open. My mind is open. I will stretch myself. I will listen to new ideas.
That’s a great quality to have, Carol. Thank you for sharing.

I think my favorite quality about myself is kindness. Since a child, I can’t stand any suffering or cruelty to animal or human. Such a provocative question!

I think my best quality is encouragement. I appreciate others, and I want them to know it. IMM#29
I love that I love people.

And that I can still whip my Husby at Scrabble!
P.S. Your empathy just shines!

It feels awkward to compliment myself – do you find that? I like that I’m optimistic and confident, and that I love to learn new things. Those qualities have served me well, and I hope that the optimism and confidence helps me to encourage others and help them feel more confident. Great thought-provoking post!
Visiting today from IMM
I remember many years ago there was a question on a job application that asked me to list my 5 best qualities about myself. I would still say those answers reflect me today. This is what I wrote— Warm, genuine, benevolent, empathetic, and kind-hearted. I know you asked for one, but I just had to share this as it came to mind.
I’ve thought about this over the years and always come back to the same answer. I dislike, loathe even, seeing children suffer and will help in whatever way I can. These days it’s giving monetary (when I can and am assured it will actually arrive and be used for what was suggested) but more often it’s by giving my knitted woolies to a local charity. Selfishly it’s a win win situation- they win by my donations….I win by getting enjoyment from what I’m making.
Hello Corinne
I thought I left a comment earlier but it’s not showing now. No idea where it went.
I’ve thought about this over the years and feel I’m a giving person – particularly where children are concerned. Recently my giving has been limited to giving to a local charity in the form of my knitted woolies – it’s a win win situation where they benefit from my skill and selfishly I benefit by enjoying the making of children’s winter garments
You are certainly empathetic and caring my friend. I see this through every comment you publish on my blog. Thank you for that.
As for me, I don’t know about one quality per se lol. I do like my persistence and passion for having fun with creating for others. I’ve been blogging for 15 years and have gone through so many ups and downs on this journey. But I keep at it. For a blogger, doing this for 15 years is definitely in the dinosaur range. Being this persistent was incredibly challenging at times but I saw the journey through. I have so much respect for people who started well before me because this gig gets really tough at times.
I also really love creating for other people. It feels good to share what I know in order to benefit others. Sharing my experiences freely through content, whether it be blog posts, videos or podcasts is definitely something I love about myself.

I agree, Corinne. You are a lovable, caring, kind soul. I am glad to have met you through our blogs.
My favorite quality about myself is my friendly and straightforward nature.
That’s one wonderful quality you have, Corinne and it shines through in your writing as well—something, I’ve also found through our interactions over the years.
The one quality that makes me happy about myself is my tenacity to see through things, no matter how challenging. Fall down 9 and get up 10, more like. 🙂

Learning to set boundaries – and to be firm about them – is one of those life skills that sounds easy but takes a lifetime, I think.
