Yesterday brought news of an elderly man beaten to death by the husband of a politician. According to the murderer, his victim couldn’t produce an identity and was suspected to be a Muslim. This was horrendous on every level. I made me think of the song, ‘What The World Needs Now Is Love Sweet Love‘.

We need movements rooted in love right now, movements powered not by difference and exclusion and punishment, but by common ground, compassion, humility, healthy boundaries, patience and healing.
