The run up to my 2019 was exciting. I was really focused. I got my bullet journal in place. I set my intentions for the year based on my word of the year. I was set with a daily habit tracker – everything was in place. But then why am I welcoming 2019 in February, you ask.

Welcoming 2019 in February!
For the first 5 days of January I was on target. Morning pages done. Gratitude journal updated. Non-fiction read. Walking done. Habit tracker filled with joy! But. And there’s always a but, isn’t there?
On 6 January, I woke up with a fever and body ache. I thought it would pass, but then it turned into a full scale influenza attack that knocked me out for almost 15 days. I spent the two weeks feeling low. I watched back to back episodes of Grey’s Anatomy! By the end of this, I barely managed to get to work for the rest of January. I was disappointed, but there wasn’t much else to do.
So here I am again attempting to restart it all – and get those habits back on track.
I’ve decided that my 2019 will start on February 1st. January is a free trial month.

January wasn’t all that bad
I’m happy to report that a lot of good things happened in January too and I’m deeply grateful for them.
My brand new bullet journal and the fun I had setting it up. My promised post on this didn’t happen, but it’s saved in a draft. I was glad to see an affordable one from Matrikas and I snatched it up.
Moving my blogs to cloud based hosting and the guy who did it so effortlessly. Yes, I’m now on Digital Ocean (here’s a credit if you’d like to move to it too), a cloud based host. Sunand of Atomwhale did the transfer so smoothly – working at night so that both blogs had a limited downtime.
Working out a blogging schedule for Write Tribe and having a lovely team of ladies to support this with ideas and posts. Thank you, Shalini, Fabida and Sunita. Also all the lovely readers who support the blog by reading and participating in our initiatives.
The Write Tribe Reading Challenge 2019 that got a great response and that has motivated a lot of us to read more. I managed to complete 11 books in January and have some great ones downloaded and bought for the year.
I started knitting again while I was ill and have almost completed a baby blanket. I’m hoping to keep making small items just for the joy of it.
The garden was a labour of love for my parents and we’re trying hard to keep it going and yet make it to our taste. We’ve added some flowering plants to our garden.

I managed to do some finance related stuff and hopefully The Frangipani Creative will be a full-fledged legal entity soon.
A loving and caring community on Whatsapp and phone who constantly inquired about my well-being. Thank you, Isheita, Sunita and Shalini. Strangely, all four of us had the ‘flu around the same time, so we were keeping each sane!
Most of all for my husband who has been picking up the slack with walking the dogs, organizing food, watering the garden, etc. Yes, we celebrated 12 years on 27 January and had a quiet day at home and a nice dinner out.
So today, I’m welcoming February today, with it’s promise of another 11 months to get things right in 2019!
How was your first month in 2019?

There’s a lot of you falling sick with the flu! Sorry to hear you were unwell Corinne but hopefully, you are feeling better now. I’m impressed you managed to read 11 books! Here’s hoping for a fabulous February with good health in particular.
Happy anniversary! I’m just now coming up for air and ready for a reboot on 2019, myself!
I’m so happy to find your blog. I really enjoyed the way you explained the month of January. I always want to be part of the group. Can please tell all the details.
You too were watching Grey’s Anatomy!!!! Hahaha! Me too. Show us that baby blanket. Cheers to moving your blogs to cloud hosting. I’m going to ping you for details. And hip hip hurray!! I hope The Firangipani Creative flourishes soon. Congrats on your 12th, Corinne. We celebrated our 6th yesterday. 🙂
P.S: Thank you. You know I’m always a ping away.
Happy anniversary Corinne. Wish you and your husband all the love and warmth. I had a very bad start to the new year and Jan. But as the days passed I tried to count my blessings and finally came out of it. For me in literal terms the new year began in Feb. Happy new year (Feb 2019) once again! 🙂
Sorry to hear that you were not well, Corinne. We also got a bit of flu bug here, thankfully, unlike December, the sickness didn’t sustain the entire month. I checked back in the next day to read about your bullet journal. Now I know the reason why it didn’t make it to the blog.
11 books is impressive, Corinne and you said that you were not well! You are a star! I would love to see the baby blanket. 🙂
Happy anniversay to you and Jose!
Wishing you fabulous February. 🙂 <3
Aye! Aye! I hear you Corinne.
Congratulations on all that you achieved despite the health hiccups. Glad to know things are on the mend and your February is looking fabulous.
Cheers and Love.
