“Have enough courage to trust love one more time and always one more time.”
– Maya Angelou
Trust Love One More Time
When your heart has been broken
More times than you can count
And you’ve valiantly attempted
To put the pieces back together
Only to find them break apart again…
It’s hard to trust
Hard to let go
Difficult to believe..
Then Love presents itself
It comes to you in surprising ways
In unexpected places
And unlikely people
Standing by gently
Waiting patiently
Watching quietly
Until you notice
And become aware….
But the fear remains
How can I trust love?
Will my fragile heart survive?
Do I have the courage
To love once more
And the strength to
Let go if I was called to?
My heart answered these questions
Telling me it would not just survive
But thrive in the presence of love.
So I took the first tentative steps
Towards Love
Trusting, loving and just being.
And Love brought passion, courage
And the strength to stand up
For what I believe in
To question with authenticity
Systems and values.
Love propels me to fight against injustice
And those who have made false Gods of themselves.
Love prevails!
Letting go over and over and over again as if she was doing reps at the gym, she grew that muscle called ‘love’. – Terri St Cloud

The faith to try just one more time keeps us going. It’s hard but we need to try to keep that faith.
How very beautifully expressed, Corinne! And, how very true. True love comes along, when we aren’t paying attention. And, it does change our lives completely! All we need to do, is trust!
When you write I often feel you are writing for me..as if you are expressing my pain and anguish through your words. Love you for this.
“to those how have made false gods of themselves. . .”
What an incredible direct address! I think you’ve hit the whole world in that one phrase.
Beautifully done, Corinne. These attempts are new on this space but so thoughtful and thought-provoking. So true that love prevails.
How beautiful, Corinne! And very true. We need to find courage and trust to find that love. Getting heart broken is all part of being in love. But we have to give it another chance. How well have you expressed it! I am loving your poetic approach, Corinne. 🙂 <3
So tough to try again after being hurt but managed to garner a lot of strength in doing so in this poem Corinne – beautifully expressed!
The words are beautifully constructed in touching various aspects of life and making a searing impact. It brings us face to face with the reality of life that we are unwilling to face.
What a lovely post!!!
