3 Signs It’s Time to Get Married

When everyone around you tying the knot or getting down on one knee, it’s easy to get caught up in the romantic reverie. Before you find yourself popping the question, however, you’ll want to really think about whether it’s the right time for you to celebrate your wedding. To be sure you’re making the right choice, look out for these signs it’s time to get married.

3 Signs It’s Time to Get Married

1. You want to spend the rest of your life with your spouse

First and foremost, you’ll want to ensure that you’re choosing to marry your partner and not just choosing to get married. When all of your friends are settling down, you may assume it’s the right path for you too, but this isn’t always the case.

Instead of imagining a wedding or a proposal, think about your life together a year from now or even ten years from now. If you can’t imagine your life without your spouse in it, then it’s a good sign you’re ready to take the next step.

2. You find yourself window shopping for rings

If your search history contains the words, ‘princess cut’ or ’18 carat’, then it’s highly likely you’re thinking about getting married in the near future. When you can’t walk past a jewelry store without taking a look at beautiful diamond engagement rings for your fiancé-to-be, it’s safe to say you’ve got weddings on the brain. Of course, an engagement ring is one of the most important gifts you’ll ever give or receive, so it’s important to get it right.

Choosing a style that reflects your partner’s personality and tastes is always a good place to start. With a wide range of options out there, you can spend months searching for the perfect engagement ring. Once you’ve found it, however, it’s always worth the wait.

3. You handle conflict well

If you and your spouse ‘never argue’, it’s probably fair to say you haven’t started planning your wedding yet. If anything is likely to cause friction in a relationship, it’s planning your big day in minute detail, so be prepared for some ups and downs!

In all seriousness, being able to overcome conflict and deal with disagreements in a healthy way is an important element of any relationship. If every argument ends up in breakups and recriminations, you might want to take a little time to work through things before you walk down the aisle. Once you know your relationship can survive setbacks, you’ll know you can spend a lifetime with your loved one.

Choosing the Perfect Time to Propose

There’s no set time frame in which you should get married, so don’t feel pressured into proposing by eager family members, loving friends or society at large. Some people met their fiancé-to-be and get hitched in weeks, others are happily together for years before they consider walking down the aisle. Finding the perfect time to propose depends solely on you and your spouse, so do things your way and look forward to a lifetime together.
