These Closed Doors is a response to the Friday Reflections prompt and also a reflection on some relationships we all encounter in life.
These Closed Doors
These closed doors
Were shut when you
Closed your heart
To who I am.
When you who
Have known me
All my life
Could not see
Beyond my words
That you never
Cared to see
This fierce soul
Who always fought
For what you now
Dare to remind me
Is family.
That I always stood up for
What was right and ever chose
To fight battles on your behalf
Seem to no longer important.
When you chose to close
The doors on me
Keeping secrets and
Making plans
I looked beyond them
To be the daughter and sister
I needed to be.
But weary grew my soul
And tired were these arms
Of fighting battles and
Taking sides
Only to find you closing ranks.
Perhaps you feel the same about me
But I wouldn’t know
Because discourse in not an option
You want to explore.
I’ve closed these doors
And yet I weep
For in my heart
I still keep
A place for love
And only pray
That you be at peace
And stay blessed.
Sometimes the strongest among us are the ones who smile through silent pain, cry behind closed doors and fight battles that nobody knows about.

Behind every closed door, there is heart that is made of steel and teary eyes. And on the other side there is a soul that bleeds with spectrum of emotions; on one end is hatred and on another empathy. But yes, every faces at least one closed door in the life time! And it hurts, no matter how long the door has been closed.
Precious! ❤️
Wow, Corinne! Another lovely post. I seem to be drawn to your writings more than anyone else´s because I can relate to them completely. It resonates so much with some of the hard decisions that one has to make in life. Loved it…looking forward to your next! Love and Cheers!
Very profound. As humans our lives are based on emotions and they play an important role in hiding behind closed doors or letting others see what is inside us.
It can be so hard when families do not support each other. This poem shows that pain of not being supported.
This was poignant and true to my own life in relation to my extended family. It certainly touched my heart. Thank you!
