Today, 21st September, is World Gratitude Day. What better day to be shining the light of gratitude on my life?
It’s amazing how gratitude can transform common days into thanksgiving. When we have a grateful outlook in life, even the most mundane can become blessed. Even our suffering and discomfort can become reason to be grateful!
Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts. – Alan Cohen
As I look back on this year, I realize that I have so much to be grateful for. Most of all I am grateful for support and love that has helped me cope with perhaps the most difficult year of my life. My husband, members of our family, friends and many others have held me up with their presence, their words, their prayers and above all with their affection and love. Even as I type this, my eyes well up with tears – not for loss, but in gratitude for love. I sometimes take all of this for granted and that’s something I never want to do.
Today, I’m shining the light of appreciation and gratitude and sending out thoughts and prayers to all these people, including you, dear reader. Thank you. Namaste!
Gratitude Resources
I’ve shared gratitude resources with you earlier. Here are a couple more.
These some beautiful gratitude journal pages for you to look at and maybe think of creating something like this for yourself, if you are so inclined.
The Gratitude Pie App
Today is also the launch of Upasana Sethi’s Gratitude Pie app. This is a pie-style Gratitude Journal App which makes memories easy and quick to save.
It’s an interactive way to express Gratitude on-the-go.
You can:
- Add grateful moments along with a picture to save in your memories.
- Edit them whenever you want.
- See them whenever you feel sad and gloomy.
- Share them with others to express the gratitude.

What a wonderfully uplifting post that was. I will definitely download the App because it will make recording gratitude that much easier. I am beginning to believe in the benefits of expressing gratitude without attracting the “evil eye” as was my constant fear. Thanks Corinne for helping me get rid of this misconception.
Love this post, Corinne. Such beautiful words these are. ❤️
I get the good vibes Corinne.
A sincere and heartfelt ‘Thank you’ to you and Shalini for hosting this wonderful weekly feature #FridayReflections . Thank you for helping me #writebravely too!
You have been a great source of inspiration for me and I am sure for many like me.
Love the quote by Alan Cohen. We often take gratitude for granted. Thanks for your motivation, inspiration and encouragement.
We lost one of our close friend last month suddenly to heart attack. It shattered me. I was scared and reality just slapped me on my face. Life can be so very uncertain was the realisation. Suddenly I became wiser. Now I am more grateful for the life I live. For the loving family and friends that I have in my life. For the opportunities I get daily to live a more productive life.
For the rising Sun that me and my family see everyday with the optimism that there is a tomorrow in our lives.
I write in my gratitude journal daily. Thanks for sharing the app. Will check it out.
I hear the sign of gratitude Corinne and more power to you. We are all part of the chain and be the light in sharing moments of gratitude.
I don’t write my gratitudes, but say them out aloud. I think I should write it down so that I can browse through them whenever I feel low and down and unappreciated.
Of late, I have started writing down things that I am grateful for. Didn’t realize that how many things in life I had been taking for granted till I sat down with this list. Thank you for such a positive post.
Oh No! Seems like missed to link up my post here. It was only couple of days back, while i was writing a post, reminded me of a post I read, which was written by you. It took me on a nostalgic memory lane and made me understand how I truly appreciated the value of gratitude in life. I have mentioned it in my recent post and also gave a link of that old post written by you at the end of the post. It cannot be a coincidence that i wrote and published that post on the exact same day of “WORLD GRATITUDE DAY”, the day this post was published on your blog! Such a small world indeed!
I have become hooked to the Gratitude circle posts via Vidya and so so grateful for discovering them.
I have also downloaded this neat app by Upasna – hoping to log in daily and will share some of my joys soon.
Appreciation is the highest form of prayer,
This is so very true. It took me years to learn this.
I keep both an online and physical journal to keep track things that make me grateful. It wonderful to read them at the end of the year. So cool that Upasana has her own app. Will check it out
One must remember to be thankful for everything in life. Gratitude is magical and makes us realise the worth of things which we sometimes take for granted. That’s a great app by Upasna. I already downloaded it.
Thankfulness makes such a difference to our lives and attitudes. I didn’t know about World Gratitude Day. I’ll try to remember for next year. But in the meantime, I’m persevering towards my goal of 2018 thankful posts in the year 2018. Great thanks this week in Thankful Thursday!
Can you believe Corinne that I have read this post four times? I had this open to share what I think, and everytime I wanted to write – something would happen. So I read it 4 times and every time I was thinking of how there is so much we can be grateful for. The life we have, the things we get to do, our own selves, and people around.
I am grateful to know you too. ❤
I’ve struggled this whole year to be honest. I kept thinking I would take up the gratitude challenges that people do every month and always found myself incapable of doing it. Even when i was winning competitions , in my mind I just wasnt ready. I guess I need to change my own point of view now..
Just the kind of post that I needed to read, to keep my daily list of “five things to be grateful for” going. Deep Gratitude, Corinne. <3
I'm downloading Upasna's app. She's done a great job with her pie chart. Will definitely come handy and motivate me to keep journaling not just once a month, but every day. Also book marking this post for the tips and links.
Gracias, Danke,Shukran :))) <3
I have been writing monthly gratitude posts since the beginning of this year and it has become easier by the month. There really are so many things to be grateful for, all we need to do is look around and be aware of them.
I can’t thank you enough Corinne for the mention. This year was difficult for you but then, love melts the worries away. Regards.
I am doing few App improvements based on the feedback I received from all of you. Stay tuned!
