Sometimes we don’t realise how large the Universe is and how vast its resources are. We’re scared to ask for what we need. We don’t trust or believe enough and are just not open to receive.
Open To Receive
Today’s Scripture reading is a great story about openness. A young man was paralyzed. His friends brought him to the house Jesus was staying at – wanting him to be healed. The crowd was too much for them to get access to Jesus. So they cut a hole in the roof and lowered their friend in on a pallet! Jesus was moved by their faith and healed the young man.
What a remarkable story of being open- the young man was open to being healed and his friends were open to have their friend walk again!
This story speaks to me even more since I’ve chosen ‘heal’ as my word for 2023.
I certainly suffer from the fear of receiving. This is something deep rooted within. I have to allow myself to be open to receive. Open to look deep within and experience all emotions – love and joy and grief and loss.
This year, on my vision board I wrote two phrases – Open and Receptive to Abundance.
There are unlimited blessings and a large store house of goodness waiting for us if only we are open and receptive to this abundance. This requires a complete change in our way of thinking. We have to let go of our old ways of focusing on how to solve our problems and refocus our thoughts on what we want to accomplish. We need to plug in to the Universe, the Source, God….whatever name you want to call Him/Her, and be certain that everything we need has been already supplied, if only we would claim it!
Remember what Jim Rohn said? “Asking is the beginning of receiving. Make sure you don’t go to the ocean with a teaspoon. At least take a bucket so the kids won’t laugh at you.”
Are you open to receive?

That quote by Jim Rohn made me smile.
Glad it did, Sandra!

I think in many ways, women are conditioned to give, rather than receive. It’s a mindset that should change since many times, people want to give. We have to allow ourselves to receive.

Well said, Corinne. I never thought of ‘open to receive’. What a beautiful thought! I wish you a beautiful week.

I like this Deepak Chopra step about giving and receiving. Today I will gratefully receive all the gifts that life has to offer me. I will receive the gifts of nature: sunlight, the sound of birds singing, spring showers, or the first snow of winter. I will also be open to receiving from others, whether it be in the form of a material gift, money, a compliment, or a prayer.
I like your two vision board quotes: open and receptive to abundance. I need these in my life, too.
Beautiful and thought-provoking post, Corinne! It’s a great reminder for all of us.
I loved your phrases, Open and Receptive to Abundance. Unless we are open to abundance, we will not be able to receive it.
I find that meditation helps me connect with the Universe in a way that I never could, before. Equally important is how we have to constantly be open to adopt newer ways of looking at things and learning.
