I last travelled out of town in February 2019 when we visited Mumbai. Since we have an apartment there, it was not exactly a holiday, although it was a break of sorts. For various reasons, we’ve not been able to have a holiday since August 2018. With the pandemic, thinking of a holiday was not something we’ve done. While some remnants of normality are tentatively returning, I’m surprised that many people are throwing caution to the wind and travelling all over saying that they need a break. I know more than 5 people/families who’ve contracted Covid-19 while holidaying.
Need A Break?
Stay In and Find Entertain
I’m suggesting that when we need a break, we consider the risks, and find ways to entertain ourselves while staying at home. I’ve enjoyed receiving these home entertainment tips weekly via The Guardian Guide: Staying In.
There’s another idea – vacation planning.
if vacation planning is your happy place, Dr. Galanti ( Regine Galanti, Ph.D., licensed clinical psychologist and founder of Long Island Behavioral) suggests you “actually think about what you’re trying to achieve.” Why? It could turn out that your fun little pandemic hobby is telling you something useful that you can address. “Maybe what you’re saying is, I need a vacation from work,” Dr. Galanti explains. “Then take three days off even if you are not going anywhere.” When you figure out precisely what you’re looking for, you might be able to find a small socially distanced adventure in your backyard, city, or a drive away. Maybe the need to look at beautiful pictures from far-off places will encourage you to check out the online offerings in museums and cultural institutions worldwide. Vacation planning is a good way to spend some time, but there might be an even better way to get what you’re craving.

And Need A Break? – Look at pictures from vacations past
Some years ago we took a couple of trips to Mahabaleshwar, West India, set in the Western Ghats. These are pictures I took from our room in the resort. Someday soon, we’ll go there again. Until then, we’ll remember the great times we had by looking at the pictures.

Joining Sandee and Natasha for #WordlessWednesday

We’re all postponing holidays and family visits, atm. I hope you get to Mumbai soon.
I end up going through the old pics a lot these days… My own pics in the mobile these days are pretty much home cooked food or work related. It seems like a lifetime ago that I was prancing across states to meet bloggers and drive new vehicles.
But yes, I need a break. I just don’t know at this point of time how to get it anymore. Even a mini break of a night off after a hard day is immediately followed by another hard day.
Oh to travel again. We had several trips planned for last year and had to cancel all of them because of Covid-19. Don’t see us planning any trips this year either. I need a break too.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥

Give us a Break
Those are stunning pictures of the sun in Mahabaleshwar. We have had a 4-day break in Coorg in December. I felt like I had been needing that kind of a break ever since I moved to the UK in 2018. I had a 2 and a half year-long burnout there combined with the physical and mental rigour of packing, moving, and travelling to India in the midst of a pandemic.
I hope you get to travel to Mumbai and Mahabaleshwar and other places too soon.

A lot of people here are throwing caution to the winds too. Prematurely, I believe. Your vacation photos are beautiful! I hope we all have the opportunity to travel safely again sometime very soon. Maybe by this summer or fall.

I must plan a visit to Mahabaleshwar sometime!
I have also wondered about these “breaks” people are taking. My idea of a break or vacation these days is binge-watching a series on Netflix or Amazon and ordering all the junk food I can eat. In fact, I was doing that just last week. I feel nice and refreshed from that break. 🙂
We took the most incredible break to the silent, empty spaces of the mountains twice last year, and I feel so blessed for that. We drove out to this pristine destination and it was the most reclaiming experience.

Yet, we have made our home our sanctuary and continue to do so by engaging in various uplifting activities like cooking unique meals, kitchen gardening, musical evenings, game nights, movie nights and drop everything and read moments. And sometimes just doing nothing.
I’m just grateful for the immense abundance we are surrounded with despite having to face the aftermath of the pandemic – a roof above our head, a cosy home, warm, heartening meals, running water, awe-inspiring sun sets and sunrises and so much more.
Can’t tell you how thrilled I am to have you on #WW.
You will surely enjoy the ride. I cant wait to get back to #MM too.
Love and hugs

Going through old photos is definitely fun. We haven’t been on vacation anywhere since our India trip in December 2019. And that trip was no vacation. We did drive to a nearby lake and a snowy place recently as a one-day trip to get a break. It was a nice break away from the crowd. What lovely photos have you shared, Corinne! :)n
