Last night I was chatting with a friend who was sharing her take on relationships and unconditional love . She was not really saying anything new, but what she said flowed from her experiences an deep personal conviction. Her painful experience had taught her a beautiful lesson. Once more, I realised how life is constantly seeking to teach us lessons. Sometimes, we don’t learn the lessons the first time so life keeps giving us more chances to learn. We were both talking about a mutual acquaintance, a basically a nice person (isn’t everyone?) who loses out on relationships because she tries to control people. Even though she’s been through a divorce, left several jobs on a bad note and lost many friends, she continues to be the same. I suppose, life will go on trying to teach her.
Lessons From The Day
Instead of focusing on someone else, I asked myself if I was learning the lessons life is trying to teach me. Every day, life is trying to teach us a different lesson, if only we are willing to listen and learn. Recently, I heard of an elderly Catholic priest who would bless himself before he watched a movie, even if it was a Western! When asked why he did that, he replied: ” I don’t know what God might say to me through the movie.”
I am determined at the start of each morning to ask what is the lesson I’m supposed to learn from that day.

It is a nice message – there are no regrets in this life, only lessons. The buses that we missed and the buses that we boarded brought us here where we are in life currently, making us the good enough people we are for the lessons we learnt and for the regrets which we chose not to have.

Love your comment, Anamika. Being open and aware are key to catching the right bus! 😉
Very insightful. I hear said a lot that we are all where we’re supposed to be at any given moment. will we adhere to the lessons or will some of us even know there is one to be learned. I think that is key. Sometimes we don’t realize how to live and learn until we get way up in age.
Thanks for sharing. Definitely fruit for thought.
I agree to an extent with the idea that we are where we are supposed to be, Frances, but I think much has to be said for self-awareness too. And yes, age does most often bring wisdom.

I hope you’ll be joining with your #MondayMusings post today.

Hi Corinne, my first time posting for #Mondaymusings. 🙂 Love what you had to say. I completely believe in the same thing- we need those life lesson reminders often.
Thanks for joining us today, Seena.

I’m glad that life doesn’t give up on our ability to learn. 🙂

This is a brilliant idea Corinne! Must try myself. And Jennifer Aniston said that? I am impressed. Very profound coming from her 😀
She is a pretty smart lady, besides being one of my favourite actresses, Richa! 🙂

‘I am not sure what God might say to me…’
I think we would live our lives very differently if we always thought of this.
Rejoining the bandwagon after quite a while. Fingers crossed for staying on now 🙂

Glad to have you back, Nimi. Let us know what you need to have you stay! 🙂

And you’re right about the perspective that we should always be looking to learn.

Can’t imagine such profundity from JA ( sorry for being judgemental but I so identify her with her character in Friends). You are only reconfirming what a friend always tells me when I grumble – that everyday we have new lessons to learn. Today my lesson was that sewing is a skill that is never forgotten and I should nurture this hobby which in turn nurtures my soul…….
Never judge an actor by the character s/he plays! 😉

Lovely lesson, Sunita. Thanks for sharing.

This is a good lesson! 🙂 Be well, my dear.
Thanks, Darla. You too.

Such a beautiful quote, Corinne…In life there are no regrets, only lessons…Sometimes I fail to see the point behind hardships or trying times and start blaming God, myself and everyone around.. I guess I just need to breathe and try to see what lesson an experience is trying to teach me..Maybe that will make things easier…These days lack of time is what I’m going through..Maybe there’s a lesson in that too for me…
Every day is a lesson and we grow into a better person by learning everyday 🙂 Thank you for sharing and reminding us with this Beautiful quote Corrine !
You pretty much took away the theme of one of my upcoming posts 🙂

Oh well, back to the drawing board.
But yes, sometimes its hard to see it as a lesson while we go through the hardship itself. It is only when we look back with the gift of hindsight that we see the positive in it.
Which is why those who have gone through bad times are actually the best to give this advice.

Loved that quote and it is so true. The more we try to not see the lesson, the many examples show up teaching us the same. I have seen that happen with me. You learn and move on to another lesson. Thank you for reminding me this one. Inspiring post!

I love the idea of waking every day and being mindful of the lesson. Great post Corinne. Thank you.
So true Corinne – and it’s such a productive way to look at life challenges instead of being bitter.
