Home Remedy Laundry Stain Removers

It’s easy to maintain your wardrobe in pristine condition when you know what to use to remove every laundry stain. Everything needed to create home remedy laundry stain removers is probably sitting on your shelf right now- vinegar, rubbing alcohol, baby powder, club soda and borax. These are cheap, effective eco-friendly products that remove many laundry stains. Doing laundry doesn’t get any better than this.

Remove Chocolate Stains

To remove chocolate from clothing or linens, soak them in cold water prior to normal washing. If the stain remains after the soak, dab the spot with detergent and let set for ten minutes before washing.

Boil Away Fruit Juice Stains

Deep purple, red or orange fruit juice stains are a pain to deal with, unless you know this home remedy – pour boiling water on the fruit juice stain if the fabric will allow (cotton, jeans). For delicate fabrics, use lukewarm water.

Remove Red Wine Stains

When red wine has been spilled on your favorite blouse, grab a clean white wash cloth (paper towel will do) and soak in with club soda and gently dab the wine stain. Work from the outside of the wine stain towards the center. Launder garment as usual.

Get the Urine Stain and Odor Out

Soak clothing or linens in a solution of equal parts of white vinegar and hot water to get out the stain and odor of urine (human or pet). Use cold water for delicate fabrics and allow items to soak for 30 minutes. Rinse fabric and launder as usual.

Rubbing Alcohol Removes Grass Stains

Generously pour rubbing alcohol onto grass stained fabric to flush away as mush of the green stain as possible. Follow the alcohol flush with a rinse in cold water, then launder as usual. If the grass stain is not fresh, allow alcohol to soak into fabric for 30 minutes before rinsing.

Baby Powder Those Grease Stains

Grease is going to spatter during cooking, food is going to drop while eating, both scenarios can leave behind ugly grease stains on clothing. Dab the grease with a clean paper towel to remove excess, then sprinkle with baby powder to absorb remaining grease. Apply a dab of laundry detergent and allow to sit for 10 minutes prior to washing.

Water Down the Ketchup Stain

Rinse a ketchup stain A.S.A.P. with cold water, followed by a soak in a cold water and laundry detergent bath for 15 minutes. If ketchup stain remains, pour white vinegar on stain and allow to sit for 15 minutes, then launder as usual.

Coffee In Coffee Out

The mad dash in the mornings often finds us running out the door carrying a cup of coffee, that same coffee in the cup often finds its way out and onto our clothing. Remove the coffee stain by first rinsing it with warm water, then soak the garment in a solution made from equal parts of borax and hot water. Allow garment to soak until coffee stain disappears.
