As the year 2023 winds down, I find myself in a reflective mood. A reminder from Julie JordanScott about the 66 days remaining in the year got me thinking about how I can make the most of this time. My Word of the Year for 2023 is ‘heal,’ and it has taken me on quite an adventure into the depths of my being. However, I feel the need to delve even deeper and open myself up further to the process. With that in mind, I’m considering a commitment to dedicating the remaining 66 days of this year to writing and sharing my thoughts and experiences, not just random musings, but a deliberate practice in self-expression. So here I am on Day 1 of my 66-Day journey of healing through writing and sharing.
My 66-Day Journey of Healing Through Writing and Sharing
It’s no small undertaking to write and share something meaningful every day for 66 days. The idea itself is daunting, but I believe it can be a powerful means to foster healing and growth within myself.
Here are some of the reasons why I’m considering this journey:
- Self-Reflection: Writing daily will provide me with an opportunity for self-reflection. It’s a chance to unravel my thoughts, emotions, and experiences, giving me a deeper understanding of myself and my healing process.
- Accountability: Setting a goal to write and share daily will help me stay accountable to my commitment to healing. It’s a way to ensure that I’m actively working towards my Word of the Year.
- Connection: Sharing my experiences and thoughts can lead to connections with others who may resonate with my journey. These connections can be a source of support and inspiration.
- Catharsis: Writing is a therapeutic outlet. It allows me to release pent-up emotions and thoughts, providing a sense of relief and release.
- Progress Tracking: Over the course of 66 days, I can track my progress in healing and self-discovery. It will be a tangible record of my personal growth.

But can I sustain this commitment? It’s a valid question, and the answer lies in my dedication and planning.
Here are some strategies I plan to implement to make this journey successful:
1. Setting a Routine: I’ll establish a daily writing routine, which could be in the morning, evening, or during breaks. Consistency is key.
2. Small Goals: Instead of focusing on the 66-day duration as a whole, I’ll break it into smaller, manageable goals. One day at a time, one post at a time.
3. Flexibility: While I aim to write and share every day, I’ll also be forgiving of myself when life gets in the way. It’s about progress, not perfection.
4. Self-Compassion: I’ll be gentle with myself. Not every post needs to be a masterpiece. The process is as important as the end result.
5. Support Network: I’ll seek support from friends, family, or online communities to keep me motivated and accountable.
So, can I sustain this commitment? I believe I can. My Word of the Year, ‘heal,’ serves as a constant reminder of my journey, and I am eager to see where these 66 days of writing and sharing will take me. It’s an opportunity for growth, healing, and self-discovery, and I’m ready to embrace it wholeheartedly. Join me on this journey, and let’s make the most of the remaining days in 2023 by dedicating them to healing through the power of words and sharing.
