August is my birth month. Which makes me examine how much, if at all, I’ve grown in the last year. As I think about this, I look around for inspiration to grow in maturity, love, faith, hope and ways to nurture my passion to write. Today I’m sharing with you some of the quotes I’ve come across in my search for inspiration to grow.
Inspirational Growth Quotes
“Life is growth. If we stop growing, technically and spiritually, we are as good as dead.” ~ Morihei Ueshiba from The Art of Peace
“Growth is the only evidence of life.” ~ John Henry Newman
“Musicians must make music, artists must paint, poets must write if they are to be ultimately at peace with themselves. What human beings can be, they must be. They must be true to their own nature. This need we may call self-actualization… It refers to man’s desire for self-fulfillment, namely to the tendency for him to become actually in what he is potentially: to become everything one is capable of becoming.” ~ Abraham Maslow
“I want to grow. I want to be better. You Grow. We all grow. We’re made to grow. You either evolve or you disappear.” ~ ― Tupac Shakur
“As long as I am breathing, in my eyes, I am just beginning.” ~ Criss Jami
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” ~ Anaïs Nin
“Sometimes we know in our bones what we really need to do, but we’re afraid to do it. Taking a chance and stepping beyond the safety of the world we’ve always known is the only way to grow, though and without risk there is no reward.” ~ Wil Wheaton
“The journey I’m taking is inside me. Just like blood travels down veins, what I’m seeing is my inner self and what seems threatening is just the echo of the fear in my heart.” ~ Haruki Murakami
“Very early, I knew that the only object in life was to grow.” ~ Margaret Fuller
Life is growth. And as I reflect on the year gone by, I resolve to grow more and more in to being me in the year ahead.

I liked the Newman quote so much! We may have finished growing physically, but never should we cease to grow spiritually and mentally – learning is a lifelong pursuit, something I tried to instill in my students when I was teaching. It’s the best lesson anyone can learn.
Thanks for the inspiration, Corinne! Blessings!

I like Abraham Maslow’s quote about our inspiration. I was born to write. It took me a long time to unfurl my petals and face the light.

Happy birthday, Corinne! Without growth, we might as well be dead.

The risk to blossom – I pinned that one. It took me so many years to feel comfortable in my skin, to break bud and blossom. I’ve shared this post on Twitter.

Great selection of quotes. But the one I liked best was Wil Wheaton’s. Probably because I am often at that crossroad and more often than not I walk the familiar path.
