I’m blogging through Julie Hester ‘s 7 Days of Gratitude with the prompts suggested by her. Today I’m sharing gratitude for a favourite photo.
Gratitude For A Favourite Photo
Choose a photo that you are grateful to have. Spend a few minutes just looking at it. Write for ten minutes about it, beginning with the line, “I’m grateful for the photo of…”

I’m grateful for this photo which is a part of a series that I shot one morning on a beach in Cherai, Kerala. I know the quality of the picture isn’t great but it always brings back great memories of a special interaction we witnessed.
We were on holiday and staying at the resort opposite the beach. We decided to go for a morning walk along the beach and spotted this eagle on an electric pole. The man, a local, possibly a fisherman, was standing near the shore. Suddenly, the eagle landed near him. Then slowly made its way to him. He kept talking to it and then started to feed it. And they hung together for a while. Man and bird. Friends. Sharing a special time together. It felt like a sacred moment to us and I felt so blessed to have witnessed this.
Today I’m grateful for all animals and birds that give us human beings a chance to be kind and to reach beyond ourselves.
