Those of your who have been following my Word Of The Year updates will know that I have a theme every month. For July it has been – Flow Meaningfully.
Flow Meaningfully
This is what I wrote at the start of July about my plans for the month.
While last month, I chose to go with the flow, this month, I want to flow meaningfully. To have a better sense of direction to what I’m doing and where I am headed. I trust that I am flowing in the right direction. I want to set habits and practices in place that bring more meaning to my life and add value to those in my circle.
These are the habits/practices that I want to be faithful to.
- My scripture reading and reflection. I will consider reviving the blog that I share these reflections on.
- Make sure I get my Morning Pages written early.
- Write consistently and meaningfully on my blog.
- Write my 3 gratitudes every night.
- Note down the one sentence that inspires me during the day.
- Spend my learning time usefully, so that I get value for the time.
- Complete scheduled tasks in time to avoid last minute pressure.
- Make meaningful connections with people.
- Use every day well and enjoy what I do.
- Cook new dishes – experiment, yet, enjoy the mundane!
I was quite pleased with what I wrote. I wasn’t able to stick to all it in a sustained manner. But I’m happy that my focus on ‘flow’ has resulted in clarity and in simple ways to make life meaningful. Grateful for so many things – grace, above all!
It’s easy to get upset with yourself when you can’t stick to the plan. I often compare myself to others who seem so much more disciplined, but that doesn’t help. So I’m allowing myself to flow at my pace and be patient with my own growth, reminding myself of these words from Morgan Harper Nichols : “It may take some time to learn to be patient with yourself, but it is a worthwhile journey.”

Dear, dear Cory,
You are doing really great. And I loved our chat the other day. Let’s continue to have these enriching conversations.
I really love the idea of:
“Note down the one sentence that inspires me during the day.”
It could be a word/a thought/ an idea.
I feel like doing some journaling which I haven’t all of July, guess I’ll add that to my August plans.
It’s uncanny how our WOTY is so aligned,
Have a blessed weekend ahead.
Love
Thank you, Natasha. Yes, let’s catch up now and again.
Looking forward to reading more about your journaling.
Lovely, I love following you on your one-word journey.
Thank you so much for the encouragement, Paula.
Thanks for joining us for the WOTY linkup. Your word is a great way of looking at the world and a reminder to live in a mindful way.

Hello Corinne and it is so lovely to have you join our #2022WOTY link up. Flow is a great word and I like how you have a monthly theme. Going with the flow can sometimes be challenging and requires patience doesn’t it? I look forward to reading your August theme next month. xx
Hi Corrine, I’ve not joined a blog link-up for a while so don’t think we’ve met before.
I love your word, flow.
I’m actually in the middle of a post about the ‘flow state’ which I read about recently. It was in an online news article about happiness and I think the flow state is one in which happiness is defined by a balance of joy and challenge (stepping outside of our comfort zone).
It’s certainly a powerful word.
Deb
Hi Deborah – Thank you for your lovely comment. I’m so sorry that I took so long to respond to you. I would love to read your post .

Comparisonitis… yep, I hear you. Going with the flow in a meaningful way… I love it – especially when it gives you the permission to accept that some days you’ll be on track and others the flow might take you in a different direction. Thanks for linking up.
All these practices sound so beneficial! I am particularly interested in your #5. I bet it created such a fascinating flow to your month. And in all of it, grace; yes! 🙂
Corinne, I find your word so peaceful. The way you listed everything and then it seems gently went about them, feels just right. The focus is on the benefit they bring, so many good things to incorporate!
