Do you compromise yourself? That’s the question I ask myself ever so often.
I ask myself other questions too. Like : What do you want to do in life? What do you want to achieve? What do you want to be know for? What do you want to work on in the days ahead? What projects do you want to lend your energy to?
As I wonder about all of these, I usually get the same answer. It’s the words of Alan Cohen, I read a while back:
‘Be who you are. Be more of who you are. Be all of who you are. Your greatest career and relationship asset is authenticity.’
Don’t Compromise Yourself
I may not realize all my dreams. But I certainly don’t want to go through life
over-adapting to suit other people
selling out
selling myself short
trying to be popular
compromising on my values and beliefs
trying to be perfect.
Instead, I want to be ME. To accept myself. To nourish my spirit. To dream. To dare. To laugh. To be imperfect.
With Mary Oliver…
I want to think again of dangerous and noble things.
I want to be light and frolicsome.
I want to be improbably beautiful and afraid of nothing,
as though I had wings.
No compromises. Nothing short of ME.

In October, I started writing a series called 31 Days about Living A Principle Driven Life. Since I wasn’t able to complete it then, I’m doing so now. You can follow my posts here.
