Dates with myself

Dates With Myself

Have you ever been out on a date with yourself?I’ve tried it a few times, but then I forget to make it a regular part of my routine. In 2024, I’m making dates with myself that I plan to keep – at least one a month. In fact, Julia Cameron suggests weekly Artist Dates but I’m trying to be more realistic.

Taking myself on a date is a wonderful way for me to practice self-care and enjoy my own company. I’ll do something I love rather than something I think I should be doing and give myself a good time because I’m worth it!

Ideas For Dates With Myself / Yourself

I’ve collected some ideas for solo dates. Not an exhaustive list but I’m working on it.

  • Visit a Museum or Art Gallery: Spend the day exploring exhibits and immersing yourself in culture and art.
  • Nature Walk or Hike: Head to a local park, nature reserve, or hiking trail to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors and get some fresh air.
  • Reading Retreat: Find a cozy cafe, a park bench, or a quiet spot at home with a good book. Allow yourself to get lost in a story or explore new ideas.
  • Picnic in the Park: Pack your favorite snacks and enjoy a relaxing picnic in a nearby park. Bring a blanket, a good book, or simply bask in the sunshine.
  • Solo Movie Date: Treat yourself to a movie you’ve been wanting to watch. Whether it’s at a cinema or in the comfort of your own home, create a cinematic experience just for you.
  • Art and Craft Day: Unleash your creativity by trying out a new art or craft project. It could be painting, drawing, knitting, or any other creative pursuit you enjoy.
  • Culinary Adventure: Visit a new restaurant or try cooking a new recipe at home. Pamper yourself with a delicious meal that you truly enjoy.
  • Mindful Meditation: Spend time in quiet reflection or meditation. Find a peaceful space, focus on your breath, and allow your mind to relax.
  • Photography Expedition: Explore your surroundings with a camera in hand. Capture moments that catch your eye and create a visual diary of your day.

Remember, the key is to engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation. It’s all about treating yourself with the same kindness and consideration that you would offer to a friend. Enjoy your solo dates (as I will mine)!
