I’ve already asked you whether you outdid yourself in 2018? Did you read more this year?I
I didn’t. I actually didn’t even make my target of 150 books. I’ve settled for about 75 books instead. I’m giving myself a pass this year.
If you ask me which were my best reads from 2018 – they are three books, one fiction and two non-fiction. Fiction – Liane Moriarty’s ‘The Husband’s Secret’. Non-fiction – Brene Brown’s ‘Gifts of Imperfection’ and Rebecca Campbell’s ‘Light is the New Black’.

In 2019, I’m aiming to read less books – just 100. Quality over quantity.
If your goal for 2019 is to read more, then this is the reading challenge for you! Are you up for the challenge?

Lovely to see Rebecca Campbell’s book made your favourites, I read it, gave it to a friend and then bought an ebook as I love referring back to its lessons and reminders. I also absolutely adore the oracle cards she created out of it, they’re just wonderful, especially for anyone working with light.
I usually challenge myself to read a book a week, so 52 for the year, but I reduced that to 3/month this year as I planned to be writing more and I know reading interferes with that, so I made my goal 40 books and so far I’ve read 47, so I might make my original target after all.
My favourite fiction title might just be ‘So Long a Letter’ by Miriama Ba, closely followed by Jennifer Makumbi’s Kintu and The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne.
Best nonfiction Refuge by Terry Tempest Williams and The Four Insights, Wsdom of the Earthkeepers by Alberto Villoldo.
Happy Reading for 2019 Corinne!
Love Gifts of Imperfection and The Husband’s Secret. I read some really wonderful books this year and hoping to read more next year. Definitely participating in this for 2019. Let’s see how I go 🙂
I loved Husband’s Secret! And there are a handful of books which now has a permanent place in my heart 🙂 I’m joining your reading challenge with 52 books, Corinne. Here’s to lots of reading in 2019! 🙂
I’m glad to see that this challenge is back! I haven’t seen it around the past few years. So far, 2018 has been my most productive year of reading. Thanks for hosting!
I didn’t out do from last year. Actually lagged behind in reading. anyways other priorities took first place.
I did outdo the reading target I set for myself but since it was my first time, I had just set a target of 10 books for myself. However, I read 13 books and I am reading the 14th one which I will finish before 31st. Next year I aim to read more and will set a target for 50 books. Thanks to you Corinne for initiating the reading challenge.
Great. I will join in as soon as I create a 2019 reading challenge in goodreads. 75 is an amazing number. Wow! I struggled hard with a mere 30. Next year I want to read a variety of genre. I have been mostly reading thriller and crime fiction. Will look out for your reading list
This sounds interesting Corinne, but I have to give it a pass this time as running a contest during these dates and have a lot of reading already, so won’t be able to focus.
Oooh I am joining in – will do with a post on this on 1st jan or so- hope the linky is open till then.
And 75 books – whoa!!! I couldnt finish my 50 books from the Goodreads this year – planning to do 48 books as I finished about 40 only!!! So a book a week should be doable!!!
I’m in. I am hoping to vastly exceed my reading total from 2018. https://dreamingaboutotherworlds.blogspot.com/2019/01/challenges-2019-outdo-yourself-reading.html
