As I start to think of the year ahead, and try to figure out what my word of the year will be, I will naturally be looking back on 2015. While I’ve achieved much emotionally, there are several areas in which I haven’t done what I planned to. I don’t want to look back with regret – it won’t get me anywhere. I’d rather look forward and think about how 2016 can be more meaningful.
20 Small Ways To Make 2016 More Meaningful
Let me share 20 small ways (in random order) I plan to bring more meaning to my life in 2016.
- Writing my Morning Pages every day.
- Keeping my Gratitude Journal more diligently.
- Practicing active, empathetic listening every day. Even if I don’t agree with a viewpoint, I must attempt to look at things differently.
- Turning off the computer before dinner every night.
- Planning for the next day before I go to bed.
- Getting into bed by 9 pm.
- Organizing my blogging better – using a calendar and sticking to it.
- Setting a fixed time aside for social media.
- Consciously doing one kind deed for someone every day, even if it means thinking about them and sending them a blessing.
- Getting at least 20 minutes of exercise every day.
- Making a weekly menu, so that our food is better balanced and we can organize ourselves in advance – no last minute scramble for ingredients or having to order in.
- Attempting to stop multi-tasking.
- Ignoring all blogging challenges, instead spend more time reading.
- Carrying a notebook around and jot down ideas as and when they occur to me.
- Listening to more music.
- Spending more time reflecting.
- Completing some courses I started in 2015, so I can continue to learn something new.
- Playing more word games.
- Painting and coloring more.
- Connecting with more people offline.
Do these look like resolutions? Perhaps. that’s what they are. They’re all part of what goes to make up my word for 2016 that I will reveal soon.

How do you plan to add more meaning to your days in 2016?
The Write Tribe website might be down for a short while as I make some changes to it, hence our #MondayMusings post will be hosted here for a few weeks.
All you have to do is:
Write a post sharing your thoughts with us – happy, sad, philosophical, ‘silly’ even. Make it as personal as possible.
Use the hashtag #MondayMusings.
Add your link to the linky which you will find either here or on the post of a co-host.
Use our #MondayMusings badge to encourage other bloggers join in too.
Today’s linky can be found here below and my co-host is Orana Velarde. Please visit and comment on her post too.
Lovely! 🙂
I think I should learn to be not so sensitive in 2016.
That will make life much more easier.
I echo your thoughts about blogging more, spending more time offline, connecting with people offline.
Happy 2016 Corinne! <3
Wishing you loads of happiness and love 🙂
I am definitely going to try keeping my gratitude journal more diligently and write for 15 minutes a day (not counting my blog). I agree with sleeping early, exercising and meal planning. Part of my plan too. Apart from that, I am planning on volunteering in the new year — to give a little and add meaning to my life and that of others. I’ve applied to a couple of places and waiting to hear back.
Hope you have a meaningful 2016 Corinne!

My to-do list for 2016 would have most from your list! Organizing my blogging better and reading more are my top most priorities! Wishing you the very best, Corinne as you achieve all these in 2016 ♥
That sounds like a good sane do-able list to me! Shutting out the social media, timing it out is the toughest! My challenge for making the coming year more meaningful would be to focus more on my blogging, a new self-discovery for me this year. Sending you lots of positive vibes and happy smiles for the coming year….
It looks like a very long list at first but then it sounds really perfect. One thing goes along with the other. All the best for all your plans! I think I should restart morning pages….#mondaymusings
Lovely thoughts. I hope you manage to keep up with all of them 🙂
Lovely! I don’t believe so much in resolutions but I will stick to the themes like last year. Something that I am focused on is lesser time on social media. As I am thinking one world about 2016 Corinne, I am not able to think of anything that I want to hold on for 12 months. And no writing challenges? I really loved your A to Z this year and I was hoping to read more from you. Connecting offline – please do let me know if you come to Bangalore. It would be great to meet you in person!
Love and Hugs! Have a happy start to 2016!

Some great ideas of things to do and not do that would make life a bit fuller and just a bit fuller is wonderful. Thanks!
Nice list there. Simple but each little thing can make so much difference!
I love my Morning Pages and Gratitude Journal too! These other tips are terrific! Multitasking is an enemy of mine. I also like to get out in nature as much as possible! Sharing this!!

It seems that we share some of the same “resolutions”. Planning is something I must get better at, with my blog and with my life! I also need to learn how to turn the computer off at a reasonable hour. Though, even when I do, I climb into bed with my phone and before you know it…Twitter! I’m so glad I discovered you and your blog and will be checking back frequently. I’d love to take part in some of your linkys.
Great list. I hope you don’t mind if I use these? They can only help. Cheers to a more productive 2016 for us all.

Wonderful list Corinne! And well-balanced with work and leisure!
I come to your website when I am looking for some peace. Thoughts that will calm me down. A lot of times I don’t follow through the words with actions but these five mins I am here I know I am happy and serene.
I must try all these except for sleeping at 9 that would be impossible 😀
Corinne, Sounds like you have a wonderful list, all worthy goals. I hope you have a wonderful 2016.

Your list is great. I notice a big difference on days I neglect my gratitude diary. I need to work on active listening too. I love that you’ve added painting and colouring – these activities soothe the soul. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful New Year. 🙂
Your list inspires me. My goal for 2016 is mindfulness. I feel it will take me in a direction similar to yours!
Thanks for sharing, Julie. That’s a wonderful goal to have. I wish you good luck on your journey towards your goal!
