Introduced in February 2013 – an invitation, a prompt, a linky. Write exactly a 100 words on the prompt and publish it on your blog – a story, a poem, a mini-essay. The linky will be open right up to next Friday, after which I will have a new prompt and a fresh linky.
100 Words On Saturday 9 Prompt: QUIET CONVERSATION/S
The joys of a quiet conversation are myriad. There’s nothing quite like it to unburden yourself. To know that you are being listened to. To feel that you are special. Many a memory is made up of meaningful conversations with significant others. It is at these times that we learn to still ourselves to listen to the other. To give her the gift of our undivided attention. It is when we learn how our lives can make a difference to other lives. Someday, in the future, someone will tell you how your attention and your words made a difference.

Most meaningful communication at times is devoid of any sound or words. It is the silent understanding that matters ,between two people 🙂

Absolutely right, Sharmila. But oh, so rare too these days!

Very beautifully said, Corinne. It is said when we give somebody the gift of listening, we are actually giving them a gift of healing.

Listening is so rare these days. When you talk to some people, their mind-absence is so blatantly visible. They just don’t make the effort. And this is much more important in married couples I notice 😛
You’re so right, Nandana. I’ve seen married couples at a meal together busy on the phone or texting other people!

Hi Corinne,
Wonderful 100 words, indeed!
It is those quiet conversations that can hold the greatest of meaning and offer the most help to those who we are talking with. What you wrote about regarding having conversations, made me think about how sometimes a few words we write on our blogs, can really help make the day of another person reading them.
Thank you.

Hiten recently posted..Making Mistakes in Life is Really Good
Hi Hiten – That’s a nice thought – yes, our words – even the written ones have so much power to inspire or help someone feel better. Or in your case, give them tools to change their lives.

hello ma’am

Nice 100 words. It’s important to be quiet for a time period regularly. I think it is the best way to grasp new ideas in your life. At the same time we concentrate more on our ears to know how much they care about us, love us..
ashish mittal recently posted..Acquaintances: are they important?
Thanks for stopping by, Ashish. Yes, we need quiet as much as we need words.

There’s nothing like having someone who listens to us not only with their ears, but with heart and mind as well. In this digital age we live, listening with the latter two doesn’t come very often.

Anne recently posted..Of books and fighter planes
Oh yes, Anne – the digital age has seriously affected our ability to really be there for the people before us.

“The most precious gift we can offer anyone is our attention.”

The words “Quiet Conversations” and “100 words” had brought me here. These are my kind of conversations. I prefer the quiet nod of understanding, the quick congratulatory pat, the gentle hug of condolence and the quiet reassurances of undying love. Yes, it is the dreamer in me, that keeps me alive. 100 words are easy for me to write and read! 🙂

I like this very much Corinne. Heart-to-heart talks are wonderful. It’s almost like prayer when we give time to converse with our Beloved/loved ones.
So 100 words are back 🙂 Love it!
