100 Words on Saturday Week 1
I’m introducing something new starting this Saturday – an invitation, a prompt, a linky. Write exactly a 100 words on the prompt and publish it on your blog – a story, a poem, a mini-essay. I will soon create HTML for the picture above that you can copy to use. The linky will be open right up to next Friday, after which I will have a new prompt and a fresh linky.
This Saturday, the prompt is: WHY CRY?
Get your creative juices flowing……..
100 Words on Saturday: WHY CRY?
Why cry?
Crying is our first response to being born
Disappointment at being thrust out of the security of our mother’s womb.
A child cries because he doesn’t get his way.
We cry when we’re hurt or sad.
Studies say that there are really no tears of joy.
Miss Universe cries because her beauty will fade one day?
The sports star cries because soon someone break her record?
The mother of the bride cries because she’s losing her daughter?
The artist cries because she and her creation have completed their journey together?
What makes you cry ?

Sounds interesting Corinne!
I like the idea too, though let me give it a thought, because knowing me, you know I can NEVER write only 100 words on my blog. :))
In-fact, even some the replies to the comments sometimes can make new blog posts in themselves! Nevertheless, I love the idea and concept behind the Saturday prompt. Hmmm..what makes me cry…anything and everything at times! Surprisingly, as I age, I see myself crying at the drop of a hat, or perhaps I get a little too emotional and touchy at things. Good or sad movies make me cry, my hubby and my kids do too sometimes, or then my pet, or a call from my Dad…just about anything. And sometimes you cry for no reason at all – don’t you? It’s good to cry I feel as it’s an outlet of your emotions.
Thanks for sharing, and wishing you the best with this new venture. 🙂

I love the idea that your comment replies are longer than my posts!

I hardly ever cried except in private, but now I’m more comfortable crying in public – however, I’m not given to tears much – except with an emotional movie and the passing of a loved one. But recently, I was driven to tears – that’s the subject of an upcoming blog post.
Yes, tears are a good way to ease your feelings!

I loved your take on Why cry? For me it is always an expression on emotions, sad more often than happy.

What a lovely prompt Corinne! May be this will help me come out of the worst ever writer’s block I have faced. Thank you so much! Shall try writing something.
Thanks, Naina. I’m sorry to hear about the writer’s block you’re facing. Looking forward to having you participate.

Hi, I loved this idea and want to join! But a question. you say “exactly” 100 words. Is that literal? Can it be 96 or say 103? Do tell! See you!
Thanks, Joan. You’re welcome to join. Exactly a 100 words is what makes it really interesting. Do join!

Hi Corinne,
I love your creative ways of bringing people together!
What makes me cry? I guess seeing people really suffering in the world who are living through wars and have terrible crimes committed against them.
I loved your concept by the way. What I’m going to do is to wait until your next prompt on Saturday and use it to publish something on my blog.

Thanks, Hiten. Yes, the suffering of others that makes us feel helpless does make us cry. I’m so glad you took up the prompt this week.

What a great idea for a blog hop! This looks like a lot of fun Corinne! I may have to try my hand at writing something for this with exactly 100 words. I am excited to try. ♥

I cry easily – a mushy card, sometimes a hug, a beautiful movie (happy ending)
I cry when I’m lonely, I cry when I read or see atrocities being committed…

Wow! It seems that many have taken in the challenge 🙂 Congratulations!
What makes me cry~a lot of things actually… guilt, remorse and repentance over past sins… reprimanding a child for misbehavior, a movie, the Pope’s resignation…

Thanks for sharing what makes you cry, Melissa. The Pope’s resignation actually made me glad – and proud that he showed his humanness. Aren’t we so different? 😉

I cry sheerly out of disappointment.. I cannot handle the hurt and the pain that it brings along. I dont blame anyone but myself for everything that happens and hence I can easily cry at the drop of a hat.
