Are you overwhelmed when you wake up in the morning by everything you need to do? Do you work all day long, yet often get to the end of the day feeling exhausted and discouraged? Do you wish you had more energy and focus throughout the day? If this describes you, please know – you’re not alone!
10 Ways to Prepare for an Amazing Day Tomorrow
Many people recommend making lists. There’s something very satisfying about crossing things off a to-do list. You feel like you’ve achieved something, that your day was productive. However, left untamed, these seemingly harmless to-do lists can turn into monsters of overwhelm. You might spend your day in a constant state of stress, only to crash on the couch already dreading the next day’s list!
But life isn’t about meeting deadlines and crossing off lists, is it? It’s about having fun, about savoring every moment with yourself and your loved ones. It’s about getting creative, bringing out your talents and helping others. And to plan for a life like this, you need to plan your day first! Like Alexander Graham Bell said, ‘Before anything else, preparation is the key to success’. So let’s take that advice to heart with these 10 ways to prepare for an amazing day tomorrow!
1. Plan your Meals
Failing to plan is planning to fail, and this failure can result in making last minute decisions that are often unhealthy. Did you hear of that girl who was so tired and stressed at the end of the day that she ordered in an avocado-bean salad? I haven’t either, because she doesn’t exist!
2. Decide your Workout
Exercise is one activity that often gets tossed when the day gets busy, so prepare for it! Pack your gym bag, get your playlist ready, put out your shoes and fill your water bottle. When everything is ready and waiting for you, you’re more likely to actually do it.
3. Lay out your Clothing
Did you know that Barack Obama and Mark Zuckerberg wear pretty much the same thing every day? Even if you can’t imagine wearing black and grey every day, it still helps to lay out everything you’re going to wear, making your morning routine a breeze!
4. Choose a Frog
This refers to the book, ‘Eat That Frog!’, by Brian Tracy. The idea is that if you ‘eat your frog’, i.e. tackle the most unpleasant task first thing in the morning, then the day can only get better! Take a look at your to-do list for the next day and mark your tasks in order of priority – the most important one is your frog. Identifying this will help you hit the ground running the next day at work and ensure that your priorities are managed even if nothing much gets done.
5. Prepare for Appointments
If you’ve got something planned for the next day, make sure you have everything you need for it. Gather your medical reports for your doctor’s appointment. Decide on the dress you’ll wear to the office party. Putting little things in place frees up your mind for the important stuff.
6. Send out Reminders
Avoid wasting time waiting for people by sending out reminders the day before. Call to confirm your appointment and send out email reminders for the meeting. This way, the concerned persons get a gentle nudge and you can make changes in your schedule if necessary.
7. Load the Washing Machine
No one likes doing laundry, but it has to be done! Dealing with smelly socks first thing in the morning is no fun, so sort and load the washer the night before. Now all you have to do in the morning is press the buttons and relax!
8. Tidy Up
Studies show that cluttered spaces can affect your mood and productivity. Before you head to bed, do a general pickup and put away toys, clothes and dishes. The same applies to your computer – clean up your inbox and delete unnecessary files.
9. Journal
Clutter isn’t just physical, it can also be mental. Clear out your mental cobwebs by writing in a journal. You can jot down a few points about what you’re grateful for, and this will help you wake up tomorrow in a clear headed state of peace and gratitude. You can get yourself a lovely journal from Rangroute.
10. Sleep!
None of these are going to work if you aren’t getting enough sleep! A good night’s rest recharges your batteries and puts you in the right frame of mind to actually enjoy your day. It also gives you the clarity and focus to work around unexpected events.
Of course, there are still going to be those days when nothing seems to work, but that’s okay! By preparing well today, we’re setting ourselves up for success in all aspects of life. You can wake up in the morning knowing that everything is under control and you’re all set to have the best day ever! You’ll soon find that amazing days like this lead to an amazing month and eventually, an amazing life!

Glad you found them useful, Haralee.
All great ideas! I hate waking up to a messy house or kitchen that isn’t clean, so I always do that in the evenings.
Doing the dishes at night saves me getting up to a sink full of dirty dishes and often I wash clothes too at night. Thanks for stopping by, Cathy.
